The Louisville and Jefferson County Information Consortium, the city and county's GIS department, makes their 1999 Louisville and Jefferson County Street Atlas available for sale to the public.
This atlas covers Jefferson County, all of Jefferson County, and nothing but Jefferson County. The main atlas map pages include boundaries of municipalities, police districts and beats, fire districts; metro parks and other areas of interest; schools, hospitals, railroads, sewer facilities, police and fire stations. As the person selling me this map told me, most people who buy this product are city/county customers who are most likely to be interested in some of this information.
If you want a map strictly for automobile navigation, buy something else. That said, this map is still good for finding streets that might be missing from other maps, and also as a secondary source of information incase you have a great need for accuracy.
A couple major disappointments were that this map does not include zip codes or voting precincts. On Election day 2000 the phone lines at the voting office were extremely busy, and people trying to call at the last minute to find their voting place had a hard time getting through; including this information on the map might have alleviated this major problem.
A couple of scans are included here to demonstrate the general digital cartography style and to point out some minor flaws. Samples are also available on this page as PDF files, but they may not look exactly like the actual printed form from which these scans were made.
