As we left my house I took some photos in Louisville. This first photo is a Big Green Sign on eastbound I-64 announcing Exits 4 and 5, Roy Wilkins Avenue and I-65, respectively. A nice view of the Downtown Louisville skyline is offered when driving eastbound towards Downtown.

I-64 passes under the Belvedere, a public space that offers a view of the Ohio River and where many events take place.

Signs on eastbound Mellwood Avenue. Eastbound US 60 traffic turns right; you can turn left to go westbound. Gas was $1.519 at the Marathon station at this corner. Derek missed the I-71 ramp so we drove on Mellwood Avenue to catch I-71 via Zorn Avenue.

Mellwood Avenue east of Brownsboro Road is actually a pretty drive.

Zorn Avenue is a divided four-lane road between River Road and Brownsboro Road, and has one of the few interchanges in the county with I-71. I took this photo looking south along the snow-covered median as Derek was waiting to turn left onto Zorn.

Some very deep cuts into millions of years of layers of rock had to be made to build I-71 in Jefferson County.

The last SPEED LIMIT 55 sign along northbound I-71 in Jefferson County. Under a minute later the speed limit is 65.

NORTH I-71 reassurance marker

The back of American Freightways trucks have a variety of slogans. This one says ``Never Underestimate an America''.

This truck says ``Never Underestimate an American'' like I think it is supposed to.

This sign marks the site of the Carrolton County bus crash that killed 27 people in 1988. A drunk guy named Larry Mahoney crossed the median onto the southbound lanes and smacked a bus head-on, causing the bus to catch on fire.

This is quite possibly the most beautiful photo anyone can take along the drive from Louisville to Cincinnati. The line running through the middle of the photo is most likely a result of the dashboard reflecting onto the windshield.

This signpost contains a normal-size US 52 marker and a really small US 127 marker and older-style left-turn arrow.

Returning to Louisville on southbound I-71 you see this marker for the Gene Snyder Freeway. This is one of the very few photos I took at night that turned out good.
